IRON MIKE BRYSEN
A Q&A with Iron Mike Brysen of the Massive Monkees
coosh: What's the best trip you ever went on with your crew?
Iron Mike Brysen: Battle Runnerz 2006. Kochi, Japan. I will remember sharing this experience with my crew forever. The people of Kochi showed us the time of our lives. I think this is the only trip where I wanted to cry when we left.
coosh: What's your all-time favorite moment as a Massive Monkee member?
Iron Mike Brysen: B-Boy World Championships 2004. London, England. Wembly Arena. In front of thousands. 2 days of competition and LL Cool J announces Massive Monkees as the winners and World Champion Bboy Crew! The crowd goes crazy and for that moment, 10-plus years of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears all felt worth it. AMAZING!
coosh: What makes MM different from other crews?
Iron Mike Brysen: Unity, Respect, Appreciation, Love, Faith, Style, Originality, etc.
coosh: Define your style as a b-boy/b-girl.
Iron Mike Brysen: Slick.
coosh: What do you do right before a battle?
Iron Mike Brysen: Meditate.
What are the other Massive Monkees saying about Iron Mike Brysen?
"Brysen is like a brother to me. I feel we have many things, habits, and interests in common. Brysen is always gonna be one of those people who gives you the truth especially when you need it most. And even when I don't want to hear it. Brysen's dancing style has influenced my style a great deal. I love his streamer styles." Juseboogy
"This guy is like a shadow. He will creep up on you, throw a pie in your face, and then disappear before you figure out he's the one that did it." Ana Banana Freeze
"He is a crazy guy, but in a good way. He has dope and very unique b-boy style. And he looks like Sméagol." Tim The Pit
"Brysen is a funny dude; he has a unique style and makes you laugh. Watch out for his cookie grinder move, it's incredible." Jeromeskee
"The practical joker. Straight up, he is the Joker. He uses humor to get through the tough spots in life. He's crafty. He steps out in front, takes the first round anytime to set the pace." Twixx

Hands-Free
Some of our experience in front of the camera helped, but we ain't professionals. We didn't have to do too much acting thankfully. It was another week with the crew that I will remember forever, and by my standards it was good enough. We went way off script sometimes and some great footage didn't even make it in to the edits the world will see. The behind the scenes parts were my favorite. I thought the armbar routine was gonna be corny, the one at the end when the guys get old. We also put too much powder in the bottles and it looks like an explosion. The powder is so it doesn't leave shards in the skin when we break the glass, one of the producers went crazy with the powder to make sure we didn't hurt ourselves, and it ended up with clouds when they broke. I loved throwing papers in the face of the BIC VIP too when I was breaking on a conference table, it didn't even make it in though! I wasn't gonna break my neck too for the record even if Twixx didn't grab my leg. You saw the hands were down, but I still owe him my life. I took the coosh on my vacation, been gone for 10 days. It's really stretched out from all the head slides I had to do while we were shooting. I use it for calls mostly. I have to use it when I drive because in Seattle they have the hands-free law now.
