Hands-Free

Some of our experience in front of the camera helped, but we ain't professionals. We didn't have to do too much acting thankfully. It was another week with the crew that I will remember forever, and by my standards it was good enough. We went way off script sometimes and some great footage didn't even make it in to the edits the world will see. The behind the scenes parts were my favorite. I thought the armbar routine was gonna be corny, the one at the end when the guys get old. We also put too much powder in the bottles and it looks like an explosion. The powder is so it doesn't leave shards in the skin when we break the glass, one of the producers went crazy with the powder to make sure we didn't hurt ourselves, and it ended up with clouds when they broke. I loved throwing papers in the face of the BIC VIP too when I was breaking on a conference table, it didn't even make it in though! I wasn't gonna break my neck too for the record even if Twixx didn't grab my leg. You saw the hands were down, but I still owe him my life. I took the coosh on my vacation, been gone for 10 days. It's really stretched out from all the head slides I had to do while we were shooting. I use it for calls mostly. I have to use it when I drive because in Seattle they have the hands-free law now.

A Real Crew Can

I guess FSS is important because a W there would really further validate our legacy as one of the best Bboy crews ever. We want to prove that a real crew can, and should, go all the way even if we have to battle through all-star crews on our way to the top. Other than that, Freestyle Session is just THE event to win... Its our biggest event in the US and even though Massive Monkees win on the big stages all over the world we still want that title here at home in the US.

Rawness

Freestyle Session is arguably the most prestigious event in the world. It has a huge stage battle yet in my opinion still has that rawness that makes a bboy event what it is. FSS was also the first major event that we entered as a full crew. When we entered FSS6 in 2003 it introduced the whole Massive Monkees Crew to the scene and at FSS8 we established ourselves as one of the top crews in the world takin' out some crazy all-star squads yet we still fell short at both events taking 2nd place twice.

My physical preparation consists of training my body, eating right and practicing. Mentally I am staying focused making sure to give myself time for meditation and staying disciplined by cutting out my vices. Also, I am making sure to give my family time and getting ahead on business so that I don't have anything weighing on my mind at the competition...
